What to Expect During & After the Procedure
- When you arrive at
AAPECS Eye Care your vision and eyeglass prescription may be checked one
more time. Anesthetic eye drops will be placed in your eyes and you will
be offered Valium if you are nervous.
- The INTACS segments
are placed in tunnels created in your cornea. These tunnels are made
with the INTRALASE LASER.
- After the tunnels are
made you will be brought into the surgical suite where your eyes will be
cleaned with Betadine to prevent infection. You will be asked to look up
into the bright light of the microscope. The rings are then placed in
the tunnels using forceps.
Post-op care
A few minutes after your INTACS surgery has been completed, you will be given
a post-op pack which will include necessary medications and instructions. Most
patients will be asked to use two eye drops 4 times a day for 3 days and then
1 drop 4 times a day for an additional week.
