What to Expect During & After the Procedure
- Prior to your laser
treatment, a detailed map of your cornea will be made and uploaded into
the laser. (If you are having customized laser treatment). Your flap
will be created with the INTRALASE laser.
- You will then be
positioned under the laser (The laser is tested prior to every patient).
An instrument (lid speculum) will be used to hold your eye open for you
– you cannot blink! A mark will be made on the surface of your
cornea and the flap created by the INTRALASE Laser will be retracted.
- The tracker will be
engaged. (The tracker can make adjustments should you move your eye
inadvertently. If you move too much, the tracker will shut the laser off
until you are back in position.) You will be asked to stare directly at
a blinking red light.
- The laser is invisible
so you cannot see or feel the laser treatment. Once the laser treatment
is complete and the flap is repositioned it usually takes less than one
minute for the flap to become tightly adherent to the eye so that it
will not move.
