Adverse Events
Again, PHASER surgery is quite new and therefore there are no long-term statistics available. Still, the lenses used in PHASER surgery are identical to the lenses used in cataract surgery and therefore some adverse events can be predicted.
- GLARE & HALOS: Patient who select the RESTORE multifocal lens to correct both distance and near vision may experience halos, starbursts, and glare. In some cases, these symptoms are quite severe causing significant difficulty with driving at night and night vision.
- Undercorrection
- Overcorrection
- Irregular Astigmatism
- Decrease in best-corrected vision
Significant complications resulting in severe and permanent vision loss, or even the loss of an eye, can occur with any refractive procedure. However serious complications such as these are very, very rare.
